Finally have a solution. Data is copying as I write this! Yay

The makers of UFS Explorer have been of great help trying to figure out the file system on those disks and have come up with some fixes to their code and the setup needed to properly read the data from the Raid 5 array on a regular PC!

I will be posting the specific details to the TeraStation Wiki within the next day. Could come in quite handy since not everyone has a PowerPC linux machine hanging around...

I've also heard back from Buffalo Technologies about the unit. They of course confirm from the diagnostic code that the failiure is due to some firmware issue. Deuh! But their unit does come with a 1 year warranty and sent me the forms to set up an RMA so I can return the unit for a replacement. So I will copy the data and probably also make a raw backup of the disks and then ship the unit back to them. I'm sure they'll send me a new one but far from confident they will make any effort to recover the data on the box...
