Update Taxonomy Field Values in a List Item using SharePoint Web Services (Sridhar Raghunathan)

Sridhar Raghunathan, an escalation engineering here on the SharePoint team, has an interesting post about updating taxonomy fields using the SharePoint Lists.asmx web service. I see quite a few posts about taxonomy and using web services, so I thought this would be useful for our audience. You can see the post over at his blog: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sridhara/archive/2010/07/09/update-taxonomy-field-values-in-a-list-item-through-sharepoint-web-services.aspx

I learned today that some properties of the SPSite , SPWeb , and SPUser classes that are read/write in farm solutions are read-only in sandboxed solutions. I believe this is a complete list: SPSite.Owner SPSite.PortalName SPSite.PortalUrl SPSite.SecondaryContact SPUser.Email SPWeb.AnonymousPermMask64 SPWeb.Author SPWeb.Created SPWeb.LastItemModifiedDate

Visual Studio 2010 SharePoint Developer Tools Overview Presentation (Mike Morton)

Hi, Mike Morton here!  I am a Program Manager on the Visual Studio team and I help create the Visual Studio SharePoint Developer Tools.  Earlier this week I presented a SharePoint developer tools overview session at the Microsoft MVP Summit.  I promised to post the deck so the attendees and others could take a look at the slides, especially those with links to helpful information regarding developer workstation setup, Visual Studio 2010 SP1 Beta, and lots of other resources. Here’s the link:   Visual Studio 2010 SharePoint Developer Tools Overview Although you will not see the educational (and sometimes comical?) demos I did during the session, there is an SharePoint tools overview video I did with Beth Massi a while back, you can find that here:   Overview of SharePoint Development in Visual Studio 2010 Thanks and enjoy!
