Countries sometimes change which currency symbol they're using. This is most obvious for countries using the Euro (wikipedia currently says those are currently: Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta...

This isn't really related to anything I talk about, but I thought that Microsoft Research's World Wide Telescope is pretty fun: http://worldwidetelescope.org . This is a free program you can install and then it lets you zoom in on celestial objects...
