Today marks the general availability release of Microsoft Dynamics AX for Retail, the new Microsoft Dynamics ERP retail offering that provides mid-size and enterprise specialty retailers with an end-to-end solution connecting back-office data to the retail store.

This release is exciting because it exemplifies how Microsoft is addressing the unprecedented challenges of today’s retailers, by enabling a “Connected Experience for Retail.”

The key benefits we see for retailers include:

  • Lower total cost of ownership:  The solution is fully integrated out of the box from the point-of-sale to the back end ERP. This will mean low customization and integration costs, and will enable speed of deployment.
  • Reduced complexity:  The solution is familiar, working like and with other Microsoft products that your company, your customers and your suppliers know and use every day. This can simplify development, deployment and training, and encourage user self-service.
  • Improved accuracy of information:  The end-to-end, fully integrated solution helps you connect departmental systems and data to create a complete view of your business and customers.

Since its initial preview at NRF 2010, there have been several early adopters and Microsoft partners embracing Microsoft Dynamics for Retail and the unique value of a connected retail experience including MYDIN Mohamed Holdings Berhad of Malaysia (MYDIN), Carol’s Daughter, Swiss Farms, HDS Retail North America and Groupe Aksal, a leading Moroccan distributer of fashion and luxury goods.
