Well now I have done it, I made a commitment to build a XAML/CPP based Slot Machine using Visual Studio 11 and that operating system that I still can’t mention (Windows 8).

During a recent visit to Las Vegas I was surprised by the number of slot machines that used themes like “Dark Knight”, “Lord of the Rings” (sad, but fun!), “Star Wars”, “Star Trek”.  All had interesting features to nick the money out of your pocket, with “Star Trek” having some very interesting features, meaning that I had $80 vacuumed out of my pocket to build a starship.  But then again, spaceships like boats or planes can be expensive.

So to get started, one needs a requirements.  In my case since this is not a real slot machine, I am not constrained by the legal stuff, but one of the requirements would be to hardwire a warning that the game is only for non-gambling purposes, or not.

Phase 1: Requirements for the slot machine:

Three reel slot machine that has variable number of stops, from 4 to 36 stops on each reel..  At least 4 payouts types will be supported.

Finally

That’s, it except that it will not look like either of these slot machines.  Nor will I get my money back.  But then again, I had more fun with these games an lost less money then playing craps.  Craps require a large "nut" and the slots don't, except for the Star Trek one.

Gambling is evil.  Fun, but evil.
