We have a new version of Small Basic for download at http://smallbasic.com. This release adds German localization on top of existing French, Spanish and Russian.
Also, this release sports a lot of small bug-fixes and some most requested features:
When you have downloaded and installed, import STARGATES and try out the fun game.
Congratulations.
I introduced Small Basic v0.6 in my blog.
Still the "]" bug on spanish keyboard. Pressing "]" (altGr + ]) zooms in the text, as pressing Ctrl+"]"... please, fix it!!
Any idea why Small Basic keeps installing the Spanish and French versions on my computer? I can't figure out how to get it to install the English version.
I tried signing up for email updates but it lead to an http error.
I am hoping small basic will lead to a paired down version of Visual Basic. I programmed in Visual Basic way back in the early 90's when it was manageable. I gave up on it when Microsoft decided to make it into the enormous nightmare that it is now - unfriendly, totally complex, requires a graduate degree to program in...I just don't have the time to figure it out. But I do need something to use that is user friendly, simple, gets the job done, has a simple compiller and debugger. I want so objects to program with and it would be wonderful if I could program MS Access 2007 with this tool or be able to interface with it in a SIMPLE and UNCOMPLICATED manner. Please keep improving small basic, but STICK with the idea that it should be simple and not send this basic off to another example of how to turn something useful and simple into something complex and unusable.
I would request one other thing. Fuller documentation, many examples to follow - keep the examples SIMPLE but make them fundamental. PLEASE, more documentation and examples, but remember SIMPLE.
If you can keep things simple, yet make this a versitile and useful tool for programming, I think you will have done a great service to many people.
