Our customers reported issue while launching Job step dialog on SQL 2008 R2 's Management Studio. Here is the related connection issue http://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/557402/ssms-can-no-longer-create-or-edit-job-steps

Issue: When attempting to add a step to a SQL Server Job,if you see this issue "Creating an instance of the COM component with CLSID {AA40D1D6-CAEF-4A56-B9BB-D0D3DC976BA2} from the IClassFactory failed due to the following error: c001f011. (Microsoft.SqlServer.ManagedDTS)",

  • One of our instance runs SQL Ent 2008 SP3 and still have this error what else is there?

  • Can you check if your SSMS version is SQL Server 2008 SP3? Have you applied SQL 2008 SP3 on your machine running SSMS?

  • Our instance running SQL Standard 2008 SP3 still have this error.

  • thank you I now have proof that the latest sp's should be installed

  • Still same issue while editing,inserting job property.

    SQL Server 2008 SP3 www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx is installed properly.

    Is there any alternate way to fix it.

  • Can you please check if you see this issue in SQL 2014. You can provision a SQL Server 2014 Virtual machine in Azure - azure.microsoft.com/.../virtual-machines-provision-sql-server

  • I still have a problem with EDiting JOB steps and have

    SQL Server 2008 R2      10.50.6000.34 which means SP3 is installed.

    Is it that i need to upgrade SSMS

    THis is what i have:

  • Hello Dejan,

    Please update SQL Server Management Studio with the installers found on the SQL  Server 2008 R2 SP1 download page linked above: SQLManagementStudio_x64_ENU.exe or SQLManagementStudio_x86_ENU.exe (depending on your architecture).

    I ve found that implementing patch bellow also works.

    SQLServer2008R2-KB2261464-x86.exe

    Its installed on workstation which is using SSMS.
