Dear Wayne (and all) -- Please help. I do not have permissions to create a Stored Procedure or a Table in my current project role. Is there a way to do this Circular Reference check without such permissions? Please advise. Thanks. -- Mark Kamoski
I thought horizontal partitioning was about grouping / normalization and vertical partitioning was about identical distributed schema with rows split according to some function. Just think of it. "Horizontal" is references between relationships and vertical is intra - relationship ( or intra - table ) rows. It sure sounds confusing...
PLZ TELL ME HOW TO CRATE DATABASE FROM SCRIPT IN MANAGEMENT STUDIO
This is not working. I am still getting the following error.
Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.
This is awesome information. I missed this one simple step, targeting the script for SQL Azure.
I thought you and some of your readers would be interested in the dashboard I just created which shows aggregated connection times and performance for all of the customers databases we monitor split out by data center (www.cotega.com/.../AzureSQLDatabaseStatus).
How can I pull in a temp table using a file that is currently on my desktop?
Typo alert: "-i –N CreateDatabase.sql" s/b "–N -i CreateDatabase.sql"
why are all these examples for web.config. In an azure worker role that needs to connect to SqlAzure instance, I don't even have web.config. Isn't cscfg the right spot to store settings? what if I want to change the connection string without redeploying application? Do you have link to sample for how to store encrypted connection string to cscfg file?
I have a question? If connectionstrings =”Data Source=MyServer;Databas… was encrypted then connectionStringName in membership, rolemanager in Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary how to read?
I’m looking encryption connectionstrings in web.config. My company is not using tool aspnet_regiis.exe.

I was suffering from the same situation of SQL Server Management Studio installation, and I have a found a way to install it. Follow the steps.
Install the visual Studio 2008 or 2010 the sql server 2008 instance will be automatically installed.
Now don't run the SQL Server 2008 R2 Setup.
First run the SQL Server Management Sutdio, and install it completely.
Now you can run the SQL Server 2008 R2 Setup.
everything will be fine.
IN OTHER CASE
if you dont want to install the Visual Studio 2008 or 2010.
then First install the sql server 2008 simple not R2 and finish the installation.
Then install the SQL Server Management Studio 2008 R2.
After finish the installation you can run the SQL Server 2008 R2 sp2 Update.
I hope it will work.

I know this is an old feed, but this is maddening. The workarounds only work IF you know what the column names are going to be ahead of time.
