Microsoft is pleased to announce the availability of SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 2. Both the Service Pack and Feature Pack updates are now ready for download on the Microsoft Download Center. Service Pack 2 for SQL Server 2008 includes new compatibility features with SQL Server 2008 R2, product improvements based on requests from the SQL Server community, and hotfix solutions provided in SQL Server 2008 SP1 Cumulative Update 1 to 8.

It includes CU 1 through 8? What about 9 (support.microsoft.com/.../2083921)?
Presumably CU9 & 10 were too late in the testing cycle to be included in the service pack. At a guess CU1 for SP2 will include the changes that were made in CU9 & 10.
Which components of the feature packs have been updated? It is painful downloading them all again on the off-chance.
Also, this was announced by e-mail as a service pack for R2 - this is in error, correct? And does this mean that there are no feature packs for R2? It all seems rather vague.
If I am running SQL 2008 SP1 and am mounting and recovering to a mount host running the same.
Can I upgrade the target host to SP2 and leave Prod at SP1 and still expect Recovery to work?
