Dear Customers,

SQL Server 2005 SP4 which was released on the Microsoft Download Center on December 17th, 2010 is now available through the Microsoft Update Service.  The main SP4 update for Standard, Workgroup, Developer and Enterprise Editions is available as an optional update on the Microsoft Update website and visible after performing a custom scan.  The packages will be offered for each language and platform we support.  All of these updates will also be available through Windows Software Update Services (WSUS).  To search for SQL Server 2005 SP4 as well as other Microsoft updates please visit:  http://www.update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/.

In addition to the Microsoft Updates, the SQL Server 2005 SP4 Update version for Express Edition, Express Edition with Advanced Services, and Express Toolkit will be available as an automatic update.  This update will be automatically downloaded and installed if you have elected to receive updates through Microsoft Update/Windows Update and have enabled automatic updates on your Windows system.

More information on SQL Server 2005 SP4 may be found at: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2463332.

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with Advanced Services Service Pack 4 (KB2463332)

Gettin error when I try to do the update.

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with Advanced Services Service Pack 4 (KB2463332)

Gettin error when I try to do the update.

  • Installed but continually being asked by indows update to install again.

  • @Terry: got the same problem. It keeps installing again and again and again....

  • I have same problem that Terry and Gun described.  I successfully installed kb2463332 on January 27, 2011 and the update is still being offered on Windows Updates. I can't uninstall the update because it doesn't show up on the installed updates page (even though windows updates said it successfully installed)

  • It does not go away...      ...I trised a full SP4 install...    ...still wants to do the update.

Thes MS folks cannot be this stupid!  Can they?

  • I'm not that computer savy but I have clicked the button to install this update several times and several times it just tells me that it cannot be installed. No error numbers or anything. How can I install it or make the request to install go away.

  • tries to update, hangs, but does not succeed.

  • Running Windows updates.   KB2463332 SQL Server 2005 Express Edition has hung.  No progress for the last 30 minutes.  Wish I had read these posts before accepting the update.

  • Same problem.  After failure, tried with service stopped, same with antivirus just in case.  No go.

  • Has this been resolved yet?    I'm having major issues with the same thing but on my system the entire SQL Server will not run.  And I'm getting all sorts of access denied error messages when I try to access the SQL Server Configuration Manager.  Also get access denied when I try to view the event viewer.    This all started after the first time it tried to install the update.

  • Not for me.  Been trying to update it for a month now.  Never installs.  Ridiculous.  And the WU feature has been slowing down my computer immensely since this update became available.  Finally had to turn the auto feature off!!  Get it together Microsoft and don't ignore these issues!!

  • I'm having the same problem.  Has anybody found a solution to this?

  • No solution here.  i've installed it 10 times succesfully.  WTF is the deal with this update?

  • Same problem on my laptop running Vista Home Premium. I have downloaded this update from WU in stabdard and admin accounts over 10 times. Is listed as a successfully installed update multiple times, then keeps popping back up as a waiting update again almost immediately. Very frustrating.
