Microsoft SQL Server team is pleased to announce the release of SQL Server 2012 Service Pack 1 (SP1). As part of our continued commitment to software excellence for our customers, this upgrade is free and doesn’t require an additional service contract. Both, the Service Pack and Feature Pack updates are available for download on the Microsoft Download Center. This includes new Slipstream installation packages that can be utilized with existing licenses to install (or upgrade to) new instances with SP1 pre-installed.
SQL Server 2012 SP1 contains fixes to issues that have been reported through our customer feedback platforms and Hotfix solutions provided in SQL Server 2012 Cumulative Update 1 and Cumulative Update 2. Service Pack 1 also includes supportability enhancements and issues that have been reported through the Windows Error Reporting system.

Will a patch executable version of this be released at some point to avoid having to unistall and reinstall? Does this patch affect the structure of the reporting services database (tables and stored procedures)?
Some confusion. I am interested in upgrading an SSRS Service instance from SQL 2012 to SQL 2012 SP1. One link (msdn.microsoft.com/.../72171357-28de-4edd-bdfd-194f97225a6f(v=sql.15) says you cannot upgrade in place. Another (msdn.microsoft.com/.../ms143747) says you can. What is the correct method for upgrading the SSRS service?
After installing the SQL 2012 SP 1 getting error while connecting to Activity Monitor
Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED)) (mscorlib)
This looks like a bug introduced after sp1 installed.
The SQL Server 2012 SP1 featur pack has a broken link - The performance dashboard link does not go anywhere.
Link that's broken there:
Under "MICROSOFT SQL SERVER 2012 ENGINE FETURE PACK COMPONENTS",
"Microsoft® SQL Server® 2012 SP1 Performance Dashboard Reports".
The link is "go.microsoft.com/fwlink and goes nowhere.
The link that I included at the end of my post got encoded with the closing quotation in the link. Please remove the %22 part.

After installing SP1 today via Windows Update, I am no longer able to export data to csv using the SQL Server Import and Export wizard. I get the following error message:
"Column information for the source and the destination data could not be retrieved, or the data types of source columns were not mapped correctly to those available on the destination provider."
"Column "col1": Source data type "200" was not found in the data type mapping file."...
(The above line repeats for each column)
The work-around I have to do is to manually map each column in the "Edit Mappings..." option from the "Configure Flat File Destination" page of the wizard. This is an extreme inconvenience to have to have to edit the mappings and change each column to "string [DT_STR]" type from "byte stream [DT_BYTES]" type each time I want to export to csv. I did not have to do this before installing SP1; it worked perfectly for months with hundreds of exports prior to this update and no need to modify mapping.
After installing service pack 1, I am no longer able to import excel files. The error generated: - Executing (Error)
