Some of our duet customers are facing problem while installing Duet Request Handler. So I thought of writing the installation procedure to help them out.
Here is the first screen that come up when you run the Setup file and Click Next
In the designated account text box you have to enter the user name in the form of domain\user. This domain account will be used to send the mail messages from the exchange server.
Enter the domain user's password in the Password text box and the name of the exchange server in the Exchange server text box.
Note : If your exchange server is serving webdav at some other port than 80 please specify port number with the exchange server. Exchange server name should be exactly the same where your mailbox is residing.
e.g.
Exchange Server:exchangerServer:8081
Setup validates the domain account in the active directory and attempts to send webdav request to the exchange server. If any of these steps fails it will not allow the user to continue.
You can specify the Port number where you want request handler to be running in the next screen. (Note: setup only creates the virtual directory. You should create a different website yourself if you dont want the request handler to run in the default website)
If everything goes fine you are ready to install. Click next and you are done.
Troubleshooting: If it throws a message saying "Designated account credentials could not be authenticated" you should:
Hi,
Thanks for your response. We did following and the request handler installation error has still not
resolved. We are getting same credentials error. We are trying to install DUET 1.0 SP2.
1) Granted domain admin rights to the request handler installation user
2) Moved the mail box of the installation user to the request handler
exchange server instance
3) Changed the authentication scheme to windows authentication
4) Allowed anonymous access
5) Enabled WebDev with ASP.NET 2.0 and activated this version for the
excahnge server as well as the DUET server
6) Used the domain admin user logon to complete installation
7) Gave the Domain name/user as the user in the request handler
installation
Let me explain the exchange setup at my company. We have one domain for
all exchange servers. But we have multiple instances of exchange server
in various locations. These instances do not have SSL
configured. However to allow web access for Outlook web access, we are
using a front end exchange server which has form based authentication
and has SSL configured. The form based authentication is given at the
front end exchange server to allow user to access "customized" log in
page rather than the standard windows authentication.
We are trying to install Request handler in one of the backend exchange
server instance which has windows authentication. we have enabled
WEBDAV and ASP.NET 2.0 only on this exchange instance and not on others. Please see the attached screen shot for the error that we face while
installation , please help ASAP .
