Have you done the Outlook Vs. Exchange Mapi comparison yet? My exchange server was resolving on Outlook once but not on a CDO 1.2.1 MAPI application. The MAPI application would only resolve when I pointed to the GC or after I rebooted the Exchange Server.

Setting PR_PROFILE_AUTH_PACKAGE to RPC_C_AUTHN_GSS_NEGOTIATE is giving me problems with "Check Name" during the ConfigureMsgService call. However setting to RPC_C_AUTHN_WINNT works just fine and this is only for the Exchange 2007 MAPI (6.5.8039.0).

Does this have something to do with the consolidation of how authentication was handled for Exchange 2007?

Outlook *is* a MAPI client, but it has it's own implementation of MAPI distinct from Exchange's. Outlook does use the referral service and NSPI, but most of the profile settings I describe here don't work the same way with Outlook's MAPI. Maybe I'll dig into Outlook's referral at some point and post an article about it.

I'm currently experiencing this issue with Exchange 2003 and Outlook 2003/2007.

Does this scenario work for Outlook too (it's a MAPI client too, right)? i.e. is is possible to create an Outlook .prf file that supports this functionality when the user profile is created?
