I'm probably slow on the uptake here or maybe I just don't watch enough TV but I just caught the new HP ads on VH1 and instantly grabbed my PC in the hope they would be available online (and of course they are on HP's site and on YouTube). My favourite is the Shaun White ad but they all have a wonderful look and feel about them and something Vista'ish. We have our work cut out with Vista to put out cooler ads than this. They also have a very cool site surrounding this whole campaign that we could learn from - it's a bit of a mix of MySpace, YouTube and other viral spaces with videos like the Finger Skilz one that has been doing the rounds. As Steve Rubel mentions though, they made some of the best parts of this site too hard to find - where you can play with Jay-Z's PC! Maybe feedback to Mark though as HP has a marketing excellence blog which is excellent.
Congrats to the team at HP for out-appling Apple (IMHO) with these ads and securing a collection of cool dudes to star in the ads (but where are the girls???). I think they make the Apple mocking PC ads a pale in comparison.
Check out all the ads at HP's site (better resolution than YouTube). Direct links below or click play to see my favourite's inline

Hope they make UK versions of this with UK dudes! Count me in if you need me HP..my own version of the ad will follow this post :)

I LOVE this tip for Vista from Jon Hicks, author of the Official Vista Magazine (thanks to James for passing it on). I posted an blog entry a while back on shortcut keys in XP but this is just fantastic if you're a big user of the shortcut tray on the taskbar like I am - as below
then you will LOVE this.
This is such a cool little time saver mainly as I am a big user of "show desktop" - Win Key + 1 in this case.
If you're running Vista, give it a go. For some additional eye candy, minimize all apps (Win Key + 1 for me) and then hold Ctrl and the scroll wheel on your mouse if you have one. Cool eh?

Wow, that looks a lot like WMP11 to me and this next slide looks almost like one of our PowerPoint's
and for once Apple hasn't come up with a cool name for their new device and iTV is a placeholder which I'm sure is going to help ITV get way more hits on their UK website . It looks like MCE has some competition and I like the idea of podcats on my TV screen. The new shuffle is very nice though and I love the way Apple changes their website in a blink as soon as Steve is done.

A colleague asked me last week how you can open multiple home pages when you start IE7 now that we've got tabbed browsing. It took me a little while to figure this when I first used IE7 but now I couldn't live without it as a useful start to the day. Rather than try to explain it. I just took a screenshot of my config which should explain everything.
I'd highly reccommend adding that second URL as one of your daily visits of course :)

All in dollars but you can do the conversion to your currency of choice and get an idea I'm sure. Vista home basic is $199 or $99 on upgrade and $239 for home premium. Now you want to know what's the difference right? Check out http://blogs.msdn.com/stevecla01/archive/2006/08/0... for some details on upgradeability (new word I just invented there) and the Vista site for details of the different editions/versions.
