More and more product groups here at Microsoft are starting to understand the power of communities, social networking and viral. You could argue that we've been good at viruses for a while  but lets not go there.

Meantime though, the http://www.itdevcomics.com/ launched recently to celebrate the IT Pro heroes and it will have a series of cartoons that will be created from user submissions. So go ahead, Tell us your story

  • Seeing this just reminded me of several attempts I have made to get someones attention internally about comics as a social networking tool. There are several packages out there ( Most notably Comic Book Creator) that you can buy that facilitate creation of comics, come with a bank of characters and scenery and have expansion packs, many of which are free as they are develped as advertising mechanisms for movies, etc. All of them though focus on PDF output. It would be AWESOME if we had a similar toolset that oh, I don't know supported vector graphics, was end user focused and friendly, could be used with any blogging mechanism from Live Spaces, to SharePoint  to generic web, supported basic animation, and oh output as Silverlight or static like this. Just a thought....

  • Interesting idea.

Now, if they could just work on getting a RSS feed set up, that'd be fantastic.
