David posted a piece about Blue Monster just as I was leaving MIX08 and though he mistook Liveside's Kip Kniskern for a Microsoft employee, his views still hold - there were quite a few softies I saw wandering the floor with the Blue Monster on their laptop or cards. This captured the spirit pretty well

 

What's to be learned?  Blue Monster shows us that no matter how big or small the company that the world is a bigger place.  And external influences can become internal influences.  And it teaches us that if we are interested in the evolution of corporate culture, that symbols are important.  If we don't find our own—someone will find them for us.

I'm glad Blue Monster is still going strong even though Hugh and I have dedicated less time to it - it needed to find its own feet to stand on and be owned by its followers.
