This brilliantly titled book arrived at Chez Clayton today. Personality Not Included is by Rohit Bahrgava and discussed the increasingly well travelled topic of company brands and how the era of mass communication is changing them (and us).
As I always do when I get a new book like this, I flipped to the back to see who and what is in the index. I noticed my old chum Hugh MacLeod and flipped to page 43 where I was greeted by a repro of the Blue Monster. Then the penny dropped – I spoke with Rohit late last year about the book. The coverage of Blue Monster is pretty thorough and accurate. Apart from one minor detail – my name got changed to Steve Taylor. Flipping back the index, there I am – listed as Steve Taylor. Damn…so near yet so far :)
Oh well, I’m looking forward to the book and will let you know how I fare with it. I also know of another book coming out soon that mentions the Blue Monster and how it put a new face on Microsoft. Really looking forward to that one.
Hi Steve,
I'm really sorry about that sloppy typo! I'm getting on the editorial team to make sure it's fixed in future versions. I will also publish a page with a list of a few "screwups" like this and post an apology and the correction over the weekend, so I'll come back and share the link here once I have it up. Thanks for being such a good sport about it, looking forward to hearing what you think about the book!
Rohit
hmmm... Think of it as your new stage name. Hope u had a good weekend at Chez Taylor
