Well well well, this was quite a surprised – I first saw it on Twitter from Simon Bisson and then found more details on Brand Republic. It’s an interesting move and it’ll be even more interesting to see how they differentiate themselves form the US edition. For the last 2 years that has really been back on track for me after an interlude in the early 2000’s where they had a worrying affair with biotech.
Is there enough tech/geek/Wired style content unique to these shores to make it a winner? I’d like to think so but I’m a little skeptical. However, there is one reason alone I wish them success – since I got hooked on Wired back at university in the late 90’s I’ve always held an ambition to get something published in Wired.
So….if you’re listening guys I’m offering you my services gratis for edition #1 of this Wired UK 2.0 – I have a few topics in mind but here are some suggestions:

Well, when they first did a UK version of Wired, I said two things online : first, one would still have to buy the US edition because they wouldn't republish all the important stuff and , two, it wouldn't survive as there wasn't the content or audience. Someone from the UK edition mailed me back assuring me that neither of these were true. Alas, they both were.
Strangely enough I was just looking at the pile of UK edition Wireds I have in the corner of my office and wondering if anyone was interested in them!
(I haven't actually read *any* edition of Wired for a lot of years though)
