Microsoft Launches Photosynth

You’ve all probably seen it in demos and now you can play with it yourself – today Microsoft announced the first full release of Photosynth. In case you’ve not heard about Photosynth before here is what it does

takes a collection of regular photographs and reconstructs the scene or object in a 3-D environment

Wow that makes it sounds so simplistic  - you have to see to believe though and the best way in my opinion is still to watch Blaise’s demo from TED. Once you’ve seen that, head to Photosynth and grab the bits.

Check out these great synths available today:

So what are you waiting for? Go grab it and mark the Photosynth team blog on your list of favourites too!

  • Not to mention my fantastic one, done in conjunction with students from the school of The Long Walk at Eton College ;-)

  • It's also been on CSI: NY too like Roundtable.

  • I loved this product ever since I played with the space shuttle demo but this is a little puzzling to me- why hasn't this been set up to better position MS products?

    1. Integrate it into Silverlight

    - Mainly to get SL more users but also to allow its use in sites like Flickr

    2. Send this technology to EVERY estate agent (property realtor) and have them use it.

I woul love to see this more widespread though, fantastic product.
