The Notebook World

The Notebook World

Like most of the rest of the web I watched the Apple Macbook announcements this evening albeit after a fine pint of Guinness in London village. After all is said and done (which will take a while in the blogosphere bubble I live in) the graph above tells a story in itself.

I found it over at ZDNet in the post titled Apple’s new MacBook line: Affordable enough? A few things struck me

  1. Wow, that’s a boatload of units in the $1100 and below category
  2. The data says 2007 so would the very low end show a large increase this year due to Netbooks?
  3. If so, do the Netbooks increment the overall number or take share from other pricebands?
  4. Who are the 50 people who bought a laptop for over $7000?
  5. Is that 50 really a true number or am I just misreading after a single pint of the black stuff

Inquiring minds need to know….

  • In my workgroup, Netbooks are additional supplements to business laptop purchases. You take your Netbook where you cannot afford to lose your data. And if you need heavy lifting, you connect into a virtualised database.
