Witty: Twitter Client For Windows

It’s been a while since I looked at Witty and to be honest it’ll take something pretty damn good to get me to switch from Twhirl now. Sarah pointed me to the latest Witty build though and it’s is a massive improvement on the last one I tried. It’s stable, looks good and has all the features I need. The only thing I think I’d like to see is more colour options like Twhirl both for the main windows but also to to provide contrast between each tweet.

There are some nice shortcut keys like F5 for refresh and of course I like that it’s build using WPF rather than AIR :)

I’m going to run in parallel for a while and see which wins.

  • Have you tried TweetDeck Steve?

It's a bit of a memory hog, but boy does it give you a brilliant layout for viewing a variety of conversations together

  • be careful when running any two (or more) Twitter clients at the same time as you may start having timeline refresh problems. Remember that while the client is set for a set refresh period it is your signin info the client is using with the API and Twitter has a set number of time you can poll for new tweets within a minute.

If you are running more than one client at the same time you are in effect doubling up on your polling and you may start seeing "connect" or "polling" errors from your client.

  • gotcha - decided to turn of tweet deck almost immediately as it just takes up too much UI on my small laptop screen. decided I will switch day by day between Twhirl and Twitty to see what works best
