I couldn’t have hoped for anyone better than Thirteen23 to come up with a WPF Twitter client. Over the last few years they have produced some of the most visually stunning Windows applications using WPF.
Today they released *chirp and though it misses a few key features I enjoy from Twhirl, it’s bodes well to supplant that AIR app on my desktop. Some of the animations are beautiful – particularly the text entry window with character count (left screenshot above).
So what are those few additions I would love to see
The last one is a big ask but hopefully the first 3 should be relatively easy (says the non coder) and I’ll be a full time *chirp user in no time.
thanks guys…I love it
And then there were 2 - have you seen Witty, which for extra value is available under google code (http://code.google.com/p/wittytwitter/). Been using it for a few days and seems solid. Also addresses 1 and 2 of your points.
Thanks for the kind words Steve! FYI, we have recently updated our Twitter client, and it is now called blu (http://www.thirteen23.com/experiences/desktop/blu/). We have integrated tinyUrl functionality in what we feel is the most elegant way possible, i.e. - as you complete the typing/pasting of a URL it automatically converts it for you (if it needs to) while you work. We also added basic keyboard support, a highlight state for the selected tweet, and some other minor tweaks.
We will shortly be pushing another update that will include a replies view, more bug fixes, and a decrease in the run-time memory footprint.
Cheers!
thanks for the update Lee - I noticed the change to Blu and will check out the updates. Look fwd to the memory footprint change. A few other requests if I may that I suspect you've heard
1) resize the windows
2) change log or version number so I can see if I have latest
3) colour changes - I'd love black :)
otherwise loving it and you're well on the way to getting me to remove twhirl!
