I spent an enjoyable morning with my chums from Edelman today on the launch of the Edelman Trust Barometer 2009. As always, it was an informative session with big minds contributing to the debate following presentations from Robert Phillips, John-Paul Rathbone from the FT and Joe Garner from HSBC.

There were many great anecdotes with my favourite coming from Joe who said “revolutions always happen on the periphery” – couldn’t agree more and it’s why I love playing on the fringes of lots of stuff. It keeps you edgy, generates ideas and keeps you honest. As another friend of mine said to a large Microsoft audience recently “you should get out more”.

Two other things of note

  • Edelman has a live Twitterfeed in the room filtering on the events hashtag of #etb09. Expect to see this as a norm for major events and conferences in 2009. You heard it here first. In fact, Twistori should commercialise their app
  • Richard Edelman offered a nice hat tip to Microsoft as a company that enables its employees to speak on behalf of the company and promote an open discussion.

Nice work from David and the team. For more information about the Edelman Trust Barometer, visit www.edelman.com/trust or grab the report
