I love this smartphone guide from Wired but it makes me sad (and mad). Back in 2002 or so, Microsoft was early in using the term smartphone and we insisted the world was about to move away from feature phones and adopt these so called smartphones like crazy. Back then people said “yeah Microsoft, whatever”…..and here we are 6 years on and the world is smartphone crazy with the iPhone leading the pack against Palm, RIM and Google.
Of course there are a tonne of Microsoft smartphone’s out there so I’m mad that Wired didn’t include one but maybe we have ourselves to blame. Maybe we didn’t bet big enough or maybe we did but we spread our bets…either way, I’m hoping a future version of this chart will include a Windows Mobile 6.5 and 7 device…at the moment it really ought to also include the HTC Hero.
Been a while since we had a Microsoft/Google cartoon from Hugh. In relation to The Register story
