Rory got there first and Bloomberg wasn’t far behind and the news is now spreading fast across the interwebs – that E logo you see above may be a thing of the past following news this afternoon that Microsoft will offer a choice of browsers with Windows 7.
There is now a statement on our presspass site to this effect - we’ve agreed to offer choice of browsers with Windows 7 in Europe with the so called “ballot screen” approach. It’ll be interesting to see what that screen looks like of course and how many browsers are on it but I’m confident IE will do well when the user gets to choose.
If the proposal is accepted, it could mean the end of the E version of Windows 7 – until then, we’ll continue to ship the E version. This packaging could well end up becoming a collectors item
Expect lots of coverage and lots of questions. I have a few of my own but it’s well pass beer o’clock here so I’m off to the pub :)
I'm just waiting for the next complaint from Opera that they come after Internet Explorer in the list.
So does this mean that we will be able to get the the familly pack? Please!
