Gratuitous Windows 7 post because I like the image above :) the images below are much less exciting but show that the RTM of 7 is now up and running on my machines. 1 by 1 they’re getting upgraded. Bye bye Vista. Nice knowing you…sort of.
Friends and family, you’re next to get the Windows 7 treatment. I have my USB key all prepped and ready to load…which you can do too even more easily thanks to the Tweaking with Vishal blog – they’ve created a utility that automatically creates a bootable USB drive for you. Hat tip to Sarah
August for us MAPS partners apparently :-)
Have the RC on two of my machines (desktop and a netbook) and love it, the features of Vista with the speed and stability of XP.

Am really looking forward to moving on to Windows 7 as soon as I can get my hands on the RTM.
My current Vista install is starting to creek and its time to start fresh, this has come just in time as I was going to go back to XP.
Onwards and upwards. Have also just placed an order for an iMac, which is a first for me, so it's all change.
Handing it out to family and friends eh? - Those Microsoft Store employee discounts must be better than I heard! I know a few UK Softies (via our NCT group - back to babies again!) - maybe I should sidle up to them for a few extra copies.
You're braver than most of us who become de-facto tech support for all relatives in a 200 mile radius. I can see the conversation now...
- Hi Mum, look! I brought you Windows 7 for your PC.
- That's nice dear - what's Windows?
and so on...followed by many long telephone training courses on where stuff went, and why can't they leave the buttons where they were on the OLD system...
(to be fair to my mum - she was the first person to ask me why she had to click 'Start' to turn the computer off: Game Set and Match to her).
I love Win7, I run it on my main laptop and my netbook, and I'll install it on both home machines as soon as I can get the RTM bits, but where family PC's are concerned I learned the hard way that the best approach for an easy life is "If it aint broke...."
