I've now released 2 apps to the Windows Phone App store.
The first App, Frotz.NET, was truly a labor of love. It took almost a year to pull the various pieces together, and to craft the UI for the various platforms. It's very much a niche product with limited appeal.
The second one that I've released (the unimaginitively named "Audiobook Reader"), on the other hand, filled a gap in functionality that I wanted on my phone - the ability to listen to Audiobooks. It can take DRM-free WMA or MP3 files that you download from the web or from a server you can run on your local PC.
Development of this app was interesting. The development of the playback part was easy once I figured out which of the 3 different ways to play media I had to use. Basic download functionality was easy since I just built it to download a zip and extract. I think I spent 3x as much development time on adding a download queue, and polish than I did on the core functionality. However, the good news is that it's done now, and out there, and I will be adding incremental features as applicable. For example, I'm finishing up a browser for Librivox books, which are free audiobooks of works in the public domain.
You can download here. It has an unlimited Ad supported trial, so don't hesitate to try it out if you like Audiobooks.
