http://www.layer2.de/en/products/Pages/SharePoint-Business-Data-List-Connector.aspx

All list features are available, e.g. grouping, lookups. You can start buiness workflow actions in SharePoint, if external data changes.

The shareware version is completely free for download and use.

I wrote this for Beta 1. What got released in Nov was Beta2.I am currently working on a exhaustive article with client OM in much detail including association and writeback to External store.

I am waiting for some things to freeze before I will do a detailed post on BCS security.

Thanks for the great walkthrough. I also saw your security post - but am hoping you could give some further details.

A couple of suggestions for others trying to make this work.

The November release - changes some screenshots (eg. Entity is now called External Content Type).

After configuring the BCS - remember to save before going to the next step of creating a list.

Before going to the Sharepoint workspace sync - please include the step to correct SQL CE (x64 to the correct version). You've got this documented in another post so a link would be fine.

In Visual Studio - you'll need to add references to make it compile. These are found in C:\program files\Microsoft Office\Office14

Microsoft.BusinessData.dll

Microsoft.Office.BusinessData.dll

Microsoft.Office.BusinessApplications.Runtime.dll
