A bunch of the crew are getting ready to make yet another pilgrimage to the world's biggest fly-in next week in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Once again we have a booth in one of the exhibit hangars--we skipped last year--and a half dozen or so folks are heading out soon to staff it. It's always a blast for the people that. Not only do you get to see just about one of everything aviation-related but you get to talk to real customers about the product. I've been twice and always found this to be so intructional. Of course, it's not a perfect look at all the different types of customers we have but it's a nice cross-section nonetheless. You get to hear what problems people are having and how they'd like to see FS improved. So, if you're going, stop by the booth and say hello.

 

Getting there can be an adventure. Only a few commuter flights a day actually land in Oshkosh--most people flying into Appleton or one of the larger cities like Green Bay. Housing in Oshkosh proper is very limited. Many people choose to camp or stay in Appleton or Fond du Lac. If you're up for a real adventure you can fly yourself. My boss is flying his Bonanza. I flew my Maule a couple years back. (I no longer have it--I traded up to a 4-bedroom <g> and then it got crunched--yikes!)  My advice is to arrive early--before the show starts if possible. Not only do you get a better choice of parking spot but you avoid the chaos of busy arrival times. (For a taste of what the radio chatter sounds like, click here. [.MP3])
