The Imagine Cup is the world’s premier student technology competition hosted annually by Microsoft. Each year, students from around the world use their creativity, passion and knowledge of technology to design solutions to enhance education, healthcare and environmental sustainability. Competitions at the U.S. Finals are conducted in several categories including Software Design, Game Design and Web Design.
More than 10,000 high school and college students throughout the country registered for the Imagine Cup competition this year, and 20 student teams were chosen to participate in the Imagine Cup 2010 U.S. Finals in Washington, DC on April 23-26. The U.S. finalists compete for the chance to represent the nation among students from more than 100 countries and regions in the worldwide finals this July in Warsaw, Poland.
Get Involved – People’s Choice Award
Starting today and running through April 23, 2010, you are invited to learn more about the U.S. Imagine Cup finalist teams, view videos about their innovations, and vote for your favorite idea. (I’ve picked mine!)
The U.S. finalists for the Software Design, Game Design and Web Design categories have already been selected, but there are still opportunities for students in America and around the world to get involved.
The Envisioning 2020 Award challenges students to express their vision for how technology could transform people’s lives by the year 2020. Students are asked to create video submissions that are inventive, have the greatest potential for impact, and are the most technically plausible to transform our lives ten years in the future. Checkout our new Teachers Guide for Windows Live Movie Maker if you need some help (or inspiration) for creating the videos.
Windows Phone 7 “Rockstar” Award
To win the Windows Phone 7 “Rockstar” Award, teams are challenged to create a Windows 7 Phone app in either Silverlight or XNA. This is a chance to be one of the first developers to build an app for the Windows Phone 7 Series.
Prizes for the Envisioning 2020 Award and Windows Phone 7 “Rockstar” Award include cash and a trip to the worldwide Imagine Cup finals in Warsaw, Poland.
Please take a few minutes to check out the U.S. Imagine Cup finalist teams and vote for your favorite idea.
