Scenario:

The TFS 2010 is moved to a new hardware by following the steps from the documentation: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms404869(v=vs.100).aspx

The project portals on the SharePoint have customized web parts.

After the hardware move is done, the customized web parts will show the error: TF262601: You attempted to add a SharePoint Feature to the site, but that feature requires data from Team Foundation Server. The feature could not be activated because the site is not associated with a team project in Team Foundation Server.

Hint/Test:

The new project creation fails, but created the SharePoint portal which has this error on the web part: TF262601: You attempted to add a SharePoint Feature to the site, but that feature requires data from Team Foundation Server. The feature could not be activated because the site is not associated with a team project in Team Foundation Server.

Resolution:

1. Click on the dropdown option on the side of the “web part” which has the error.

2. Select the “Edit Web Part” option.

3. Under the right most column with the name “Work Item Shortcuts setting” look for the name of the “Connection”. This will be pointing to the old TFS server.

4. Click on the “Change” option.

5. Then select the “Connect to a different Project” radio button and enter the correct TFS server name and select the project under the collection. Then click OK.

6. After the change, the error on the web part will vanish.
