PDC05: Breakout Videos Now Online

If posting the hands-on labs wasn't enough, we've just hit the big red button on the session breakout content itself. Head over to the PDC05 post-show website to view all the sessions from the event. For each session, you can see both the presenter video and the slide / demo screens, and you can even right-click on the talking head video to increase the speed - viewing the sessions at a 1.6x speed is an intense, Matrix-style learning experience! (Site is looking a bit slow right now, but keep it bookmarked - it's already starting to get swamped.) We'll be mailing out this same content to attendees on DVD, so you can watch it at your leisure, and you can buy it on DVD to share around your office even if you didn't attend by visiting this site.

Some great, highly-rated Windows Presentation Foundation and Windows Vista sessions that are worth a repeat viewing:

  • PRS305: A Lap around Windows Presentation Foundation (Rob Relyea)
  • PRS313: Integrating WPF with your Win32 / MFC Application (Nick Kramer)
  • PRS317: Beautiful Code, Beautiful Design (Robby Ingebretsen)
  • PRS319: Building Applications that Look Great in Windows Vista (Tjeerd Hoek and Jeff Pettiross)
  • PRS324: Using Data in Your WPF Applications (Namita Gupta)

These are just my personal picks, not an exhaustive list. The team did an incredible job of preparing and polishing their content - most people have no idea how many sleepless nights and soul-searching dry run sessions were needed to make this happen.

  • i was waiting for this a long time...my problem is: the site is dog slow! is it just for me? i get 2kbit/s and its a nightmare to download a 130MB vid this way...:-(
  • Yes - we're aware that this site is... ahem... somewhat bandwidth constrained at the moment. We're looking at what we can do to make it better, but in the meantime we plead for your indulgence! As you can imagine, there are tens of thousands of people currently trying to leech every file from the site, and once the initial wave of demand recedes a little, things will be a lot smoother.
  • The doesn't appear to working. I keep trying it and it has the same error type message about my browser not being new enough...
  • ROFL, it "requires" Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher. Nice...
  • Yes, I like the way it requires IE, even though it's about as vanilla as a web site can be - a set of links to sections, and a list of download links for the files in each section.

I can see why they couldn't make that work with Firefox or Opera!

At least the site is fast now though :-)
  • Of course, even though it's fast, when you download 128Mb of the PRS200 video, and find that some muppet has actually stored the FUN323 talk in this ZIP file instead, it doesn't help that it only took 2 hours to download.

    Grrrr!
  • Tim: Thanks for the heads-up on PRS200. I've forwarded your comments to our vendor. Hopefully, we'll be able to rectify the situation shortly.
  • I am still waiting to receive my DVD which suppose to be at my desk 8 weeks afer the conference...

Is there anyway that I can follow up on that?

    Cheers,
  • I saw that a batch arrived in our office this week - hopefully they should be arriving very soon, but I'll check up on that for you, Mr PDC Attendee.
  • Thanks, appriciate that...
  • Happy New Year Tim..

Any update on my request by any chance?

    Cheers,
