A basic question I'm often asked is "where can I go to learn about WPF?" I like to answer this question here on the blog every now and again, both for new readers and to take account of new or changed materials.

Here are a few useful resources that I tend to point people to:

• I wrote a white paper to co-incide with the PDC to provide an introduction to the technology. Although there have been a number of breaking changes that will affect the successful operation of a few demos, I still think this is helpful to set the context and vision behind the platform and explain the core concepts.
• Channel 9 has a number of videos on WPF - I particularly like the following five for the diversity of information presented in just over an hour:
  • The North Face In-Store Prototype (also see the associated whitepaper)
  • RSS Browser in 14 Lines of XAML
  • Contoso Healthcare Prototype
  • KarstenJ Demo Portfolio
  • Chris Anderson on the WPF Architecture
• Ian Griffiths' and Chris Sells' book Programming Windows Presentation Foundation, published by O'Reilly, remains the best title available on this subject at this time. Although it also suffers from changes to the APIs made since publication, they've attempted to keep their website updated with new versions of the sample code.
• Rob Relyea delivered a great lap around WPF at the PDC, building a sample application using Visual Studio 2005.
• And of course, there's a fantastic selection of blogs from developers to program managers across the spectrum of WPF, Expression Interactive Designer, SDK and Visual Studio Extensions for WinFX.
