About Shake to Develop

My name is Todd Mancini and I am a Developer Technology Specialist for Microsoft serving the northeast USA (New England + upstate New York).  I am a member of the Developer and Platform Evangelism (DPE) team and it's my job to educate our customers on the suite of Microsoft development tools.  My primary focus is educating development teams to be successful -- generally with the aid of Visual Studio, of course!

Do you find the WPF Editor to be too fuzzy?

Several years ago, Microsoft introduced ClearType . I've generally been a big fan of ClearType since it's introduction. However, if you are visually impaired, have high color sensitivity, are not using an LCD monitor, or just don't like the 'feel' of...

    DBPro Support for Other Databases

One of the most common questions I hear when talking about the Database Professional edition is "does it support anything other than SQL Server?" And my standard response was always "not at this time" -- which was not a real 'no' but more of a 'not yet...

I have personally recommended to nearly anyone with whom I discussed Team Foundation Server the value of reading the Branching Guidance whitepaper published on codeplex.com. Well, I can no longer make that recommendation…because there is a newer guide...

Having proxy problems with a web test in Visual Studio 2008?

One of the features of a Visual Studio web test (in the Tester edition or in Team Suite) is to specify the outbound proxy server. You may have even successfully used this feature in VS2005. If you upgraded to VS2008, you may have found that these tests...

I have some cutting edge (and bleeding edge) customers. They don't necessarily enjoy playing the unsynchronized-product-release-cycle dance. When we release a product, we make it work with what is shipping at the time. So, for example, when TFS shipped...

Todd Installs TFS - 01 - Installing Windows Server 2008

I created a new VPC using Virtual PC 2007.  As Windows Server 2008 is not a choice for the creation Wizard, I picked Windows Server 2003 assuming that would give me the closest reasonable settings.  I set the RAM for the VPC to 1.5GB and I created...
