Pre-Conference Tutorials (May 8)

  • Application Development for Windows Mobile (Presenter: Jim Wilson)
    This session will cover the basics of using Visual Studio® 2005 to target the different Windows Mobile® devices in different languages, including basic platform features as well as tools usage. It will also include some more advanced concepts like calling Web services and using SQL Mobile.
  • Building Devices with Windows XP Embedded (Presenter: Sean Liming)
    Attendees learn the basics of using target designer–bringing a Windows XP Embedded device up and debugging it.
  • Managing and Deploying Devices
    This course introduces IT Professionals to Microsoft’s mobile platform including deployment options and troubleshooting techniques. Students will also learn how Windows Mobile® 5 Messaging and Security Feature Pack (MSFP) work with Microsoft Exchange 2003 Service Pack 2 to provide a real-time mobile solution that is secure, easy to configure, and manage.
  • Building Devices Using Windows CE (Presenter: Doug Boling)
    Detailing the basics of Microsoft Platform Builder, this tutorial covers the basics of bringing a Windows CE device up and debugging it.

Tracks

  • Application Development
    The Application Development Track sessions will focus on developing mobile applications in Visual Studio® 2005 for Windows Mobile® 5.0 (including MSFP) using both managed and native code. Sessions will be geared to help you build Windows Mobile® applications better, running on more devices, with greater stability and longer battery life. Other topics will include memory and code management, and speed to market.
  • Developing Windows Embedded Devices
    This track is tailored for Windows Embedded developers. It will deliver the most comprehensive training available on the latest versions of Windows CE, Windows XP Embedded, and Windows Embedded for Point of Service. Breakout sessions will cover in technical detail: reliability, real time, source access, security, and time to market for existing users of the Windows Embedded platform.    This is also your opportunity to learn from, network with, and be inspired by the Windows Embedded Product Team, MVPs, your peers, and other technical experts from the Embedded community.
  • Managing and Deploying Devices
    IT Professionals who manage, support and security IT operations for Mobile devices and their associated infrastructure won’t want to miss out on this MEDC track. Sessions will cover topics for Application Deployment, Configuration, device and software catalogs, Security and Customization. Technologies that will be showcased are Windows Mobile®, Windows Embedded, Windows Embedded for Point of Service, Exchange Server, Windows Server and Clients, Office, Systems Management Server, Tablet PCs and Mobile Technologies.
