Two new applications have been released to enable consumers and business to improve the power management of their PCs, resulting in lower energy consumption.

For consumers:

Verdiem’s Edison is a free energy-monitoring application for eco-conscious consumers. You can use it to more actively control your PC’s energy consumption — and subsequently your household’s carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

You can find out more and download Edison here.

For IT administrators:

Configuration Manager 2007 Desired Configuration Management (DCM), enables organizations to ensure that IT systems comply with ENERGY STAR guidelines. The configuration pack enables organizations to assess display and hibernation settings on Windows XP or Windows Vista operating systems.

You can find out more and download it here.
