I'm quite proud of my mother. Yesterday, she was listening to somebody on the radio talk about spyware and how you should never click on popup advertisements. My mom agreed with the host and explained to me that clicking on such links represents a major security risk because you can get viruses that will infect your system.
Now to those of us who are well-versed in the ways of internet security, this comes as no surprise. However, my mom is not the most technically literate person in the world. I still have to occassionally show her how to access files off of a CD. Still, the fact that even my mom knows that she shouldn't click on pop-ups without having to be told suggests that there is a glimmer of hope for the rest of the internet population.
On the other hand, apparently other relatives of mine thought that they were the 1000th visitor to a site, who could resist?.
