As a follow up from my previous post, I've calmed down a bit and started to regain my calm, Zen-like demeanor.
I have not managed to get the new filter out there. However, I have devised a scheme wherein we can monitor potential FPs closely. We're going to revert back to my favorite trick in the book - create a spam rule that uses this filter and watch for false positives.
It's my favorite trick of the trade. We can link new filters to individual spam rules. We can then isolate that rule in any individual false positive submission (move all FP submissions that hit that rule to a special folder) and perform a visual inspection to see if the submission is valid (customers submit spam to the false positive inbox all the time, at least 75% of FP submissions are invalid). We watch this new filter for a while and slowly increase its weight until we're finally ready to go full throttle with it. When we're confident, then there are no further excuses.
It's still very frustrating that I have to do this level of analysis when I am absolutely confident that it will not change our opinions. Still, if this is what I have to do to get it out, then I will do what I have to do.
In the meantime, I have to take some leadership/inspiration/charisma courses.
