Hello. My name is Eric Nelson and I am a Virgo.

eric09

I am also an Application Evangelist in Microsoft UK and I have been working with UK developers using Microsoft technologies since 1996. Which either makes me a “dinosaur” or ”jedi master”, depending on you outlook :-)

The sharp eyed amongst you will know that for the large majority of those 14 years I worked with UK Independent Software Vendors and loved every minute of it. But I did fancy a change and hence spent the last two years in the breadth evangelism team of Microsoft UK working more broadly with the UK development community – lots of conferences, blogging, podcasts and webcasts.

At the end of August I switched role back to the world of UK ISVs. The cunning plan is to take the skills and lessons I learnt from the last two years doing broad reach evangelism, mix them up with my deep knowledge of the ISV space and make a positive difference to the large numbers of ISVs in the UK who are navigating our technology without the aid of a seatbelt (i.e. without an assigned ISV Architect Evangelist).

I will be sharing in more detail what that really means over the next few weeks but for the moment:

  1. You can expect me to increasingly “hang out” on this blog, which is the team blog of the ISV Architect Evangelists in the UK.
  2. This blog should become much more balanced over time – covering many technologies relevant to ISVs. From the Windows Azure Platform to SQL Server to Web to Windows Phone 7 development.
  3. My main blog (http://geekswithblogs.net/iupdateable) will return to its roots and become much more ISV centric.

If you are a developer or architect sitting inside an ISV in the UK (which presumably is why you read this blog) then I would recommend you:

  1. Bookmark my blog with your favourite reader
  2. Add me to your twitter friends http://twitter.com/ericnel
  3. And… have a great day

P.S. You are quite likely thinking “That is all very nice … but where is the information about the 2 weeks of FREE training?”. Hint… visit my blog.
