W3C, the web standards organisation, held its first developer conference in November.

The website for the conference practices what it preaches. It uses some of the latest features, including:

  • HTML semantic elements andclass-based metadata for dates and the conference location.
  • Accessibility guidelines to meet the AA standard
  • jQuery libraries for scrolling and other effects
  • CSS3 features, including support for mobile devices
  • Pretty fonts (with fall back to more widely-available and generic fonts)
  • Open standard graphics, including PNG and SVG

Well, you’d expect them to do this but it’s a pretty cool site anyway.

If you weren’t there, don’t worry. Microsoft was one of the sponsors and they recorded 22 presentations in full and they’re all available on the conference website.
