Who was first onto Windows 7 in schools?

It was a little bit of fun this evening, watching a race develop (via Twitter) to see who would be first of the UK education community I follow on Twitter to see who would be first to get the Windows 7 download from MSDNAA, get it installed on a laptop, and then get the victorious tweet out.

It was a bit of a race between Dave Coleman at Twynham, Alan Richards at West Hatch, Andrew Woody and Matthew Hughes.

And the honours went to Dave Coleman, who announced success at 8:54pm (or ‘lunchtime’ if you’re reading this on the US West Coast). He not only managed the install in 32 minutes (!) but brought a smile to my face when he said “brought back memories of Win 95”.

I’m looking forward to hearing him speak at the “Windows 7 in Education” event.

Do you think I should give him a “Number 1” badge?
