Some of you may already know of the upcoming changes in Daylight Savings Time, and their impact on time-related software, and updates available from Microsoft. In case you are not, I would like to bring this to your attention. One of the key provisions of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 extends Daylight Saving Time (DST) by approximately four weeks. In compliance with this provision, beginning in 2007 DST dates in the United States will start three weeks earlier (2:00 A.M. on the second Sunday...

    Brad Abrams interview on AJAX

I was able to sit down with the great Brad Abrams two weeks back. It was a very interesting interview where I mauled the word Microsoft and no I didn't fix it in post editing. Brad provides a quick review of his career and answers some hard ISV focused questions on ASP.NET AJAX. He even shares the name of his favorite band. The US ISV team decided to go with a short 10 minute format for our vcasts and expect future vcasts to include a downloadable mp3. http://channel9.msdn.com/ShowPost.aspx...

Be ready for 2007 changes to Daylight Savings Time

In 2005, the US Congress passed legislation to lengthen Daylight Savings Time. Starting in 2007, DST dates in the US and Canada will start three weeks earlier and end one week later. This obviously impacts many software products, including several from Microsoft. Does it affect yours? What do you need to do about it? For starters, understand how Microsoft is responding to these changes by visiting http://www.microsoft.com/dst2007 , which will be updated regularly. Next, consider attending a...

Coincidentally, my friend and colleague Bob German tagged me to list 5 things you might not know about me, so here goes... I independently study biology and biotechnology - I find it to be endlessly facinating, and even got to run a DNA fingerprinting test (using the Reverse Transcriptase...
