One of the many features announced at MIX was that the next version of Windows Phone, called ‘Mango’, will include SQL Compact.
In the Day 2 Keynote, Scott Guthrie, Corporate Vice President, .NET Developer Platform announced, “So, ‘Mango’ now includes a local SQL database that allows you to save and query data within your application. We also now support using Linq, so that you can query against that database, and we do provide in the box the full object-relational mapper that allows you to manipulate data and save it back into the database at any point.”
Microsoft said it remains on track to start delivering the next version of Windows Phone to new and existing devices by the end of this year.
Windows Phone Developer Tools will be available in May, and new features will enable the following:
