The Windows Azure team has announced change in pricing for the Windows Azure platform that will provide significant cost savings for customers whose cloud applications experience substantial inbound traffic, and customers interested in migrating large quantities of existing data to the cloud.
For billing periods that begin on or after July 1, 2011, all inbound data transfers for both peak and off-peak times will be free.

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer today thanked partners at Microsoft Corp.’s annual Worldwide Partner Conference (WPC) for helping make Windows 7 the fastest-selling operating system in history and indicated that with future versions in development, partners can be confident in their bets on Windows for phones, PCs, servers and the cloud.
Ballmer said more than 400 million Windows 7 licenses have been sold in less than two years, and that the best way to prepare customers and prospects for the future is to move all customers to Windows 7.
Satya Nadella, president of the Server and Tools Business at Microsoft, announced the availability of a community technology preview of the new Microsoft SQL Server, currently SQL Server codename “Denali”. A new SDK from Microsoft Research can help you write code to connect Kinect to robots. The Kinect Services for Robotics Developer Studio (RDS) provides sample services that use the Kinect for Windows SDK to allow access to the Depth and RGB data from a Kinect sensor. In addition to a service for a real Kinect, there is also a service for a simulated Kinect that works with the RDS simulator.
