A recently Microsoft-commissioned study conducted by Forrester Consulting found that software partners deploying solutions on Windows Azure are generating 20 percent to 250 percent in new revenue by reaching entirely new customers.
Forrester interviewed six ISVs that had developed applications on the Windows Azure platform, which includes service offerings of Windows Azure, Microsoft SQL Azure, and Windows Azure AppFabric. Based on the data gathered from these ISVs, Forester constructed a framework for evaluating the potential revenues, pricing strategies, and expenses associated with developing and selling cloud-based software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications.
ISVs are able to reuse up to 80% of their existing .NET code when moving to Windows Azure.
The paper provides details on the business impact on how Windows Azure enables rapid implementation of Cloud applications.
