Around the World with Visual Basic (Lisa Feigenbaum)

I just finished a month-long 'round the world trip, where I was speaking about Visual Basic and meeting with local Microsoft representatives. I started off in Durban in early August, where I spoke at TechEd South Africa 2008. (More info on my talks and presentation materials to follow in my next post.) Then I continued on to TechEd SouthEast Asia in Kuala Lumpur. Here's a picture from the TechEd SouthEast Asia MVP and speaker dinner:

Left to right: Prasanna Amirthalingam (VB MVP, Sri Lanka), Lisa Feigenbaum (VB Program Manager, Microsoft Redmond), Chan Wei Min (VB MVP, Malaysia), TK TEH, Tiong Keen (VB MVP, Malaysia)

After Malaysia, I took a week-long vacation in Beijing and went to see the Olympics! There were many ways that fans chose to show their spirit. Some created signs, waved large flags, used face paint, etc. I chose nail polish:

While I was in Beijing I also visited both Microsoft offices, and met with MVPs and Developer Evangelists. Below is a picture of the older of the two Microsoft Beijing buildings. This one is nearby the Zichunlu subway stop:

Here's a photo at the meeting with Microsoft Beijing team members and with three local MVPs.

Left to right: XinWen Cheng (MVP), Tao Wang (MVP), Sisley Lin (MVP lead), Lisa Feigenbaum (me), Simon Duan (Developer Evangelist), Shirley Long (China MVP program), Lei Xu (MVP), Yun Xu (Developer Evangelist).

Finally I ended the trip in Tokyo, where I went to visit MVPs at TechEd Japan. We had some very fun and interactive meetings. I think you'll be able to tell from the pictures. :)

Masaki Matsumoto is the MVP lead in Japan, and is the one who organized these meetings. He is standing second to the right in the photo above.

This last picture is from my final day on the trip, saying goodbye to Seiichi Sato Community Program Manager in Japan. The building in the background is the Tokyo Tower. :)
