Channel 9 Video: Parallel Computing in Native Code: New Trends and Old Friends - Damien Watkins and others

Recently our colleagues over at PCP (the Parallel Computing Platform team) have been doing a number of  Channel 9 videos - on their most recent taping they asked Damien Watkins from VC++ to join them. Why? Well the focus of the video was around the journey towards getting the PCP bits shaped and shipped in VS2010. Damien has been the VC++ Program Manger (PM) managing that relationship. He also works on many of  our C++0x and Libraries features, which turned out to be a fortunate match for a few reasons, firstly ConcRT/PPL benefits from using some new C++0x features (for example lambdas and support for transporting exceptions between threads) and secondly since the ConcRT runtime ships in the CRT and the PPL ships as a VC++ library. We hope you enjoy the video.

  • Hey guys,

Can you post this video in WMP format? I don't really care about installing silverlight.

  • Hello

I will forward this on to Charles at Channel 9 to see what can be done. One question, when I click on the "Downloads" option at the bottom of the page I see you can download it as:

    iPod (MP4)

    MP3

    PSP (MP4)

    WMA

    WMV

    WMV (High)

Do none of these other formats work for you either?

    Thanks

    Damien

  • Any idea when the next Visual Studio 2010 CPT will be released?

And, will VS 2010 Express Edition support MFC?

  • Hello “longtime c++/mfc dev”

Thanks for the interest and questions. Schedules and Product Plans are normally announced on Soma’s blog first: http://blogs.msdn.com/somasegar/ (and we follow-up with items that closely affect us shortly thereafter.) So the best I can suggest is to keep an eye on Soma’s blog (or wait until we relay another here.)

    Thanks

    Damien
