More Hilo – Sharing Photos with Hilo

  • Comments 1

Hilo is back. Keeping our promise of delivering more Windows 7 developer fun, we bring you the third installment of the Hilo series. We continue building on the first two applications (covered in Chapters 1 thru 11 on this link). This time we have added features to share photos online and a much improved user interface.

Below is a screenshot:

These set of applications illustrate how to take advantage of the following Windows functionalities:

  • Windows Web Services API (WWSAPI): To provide functionality to share photos online.
  • Taskbar Jump Lists: To provide easy navigation and action points into your apps.
  • Touch Gesture support: Provide pan and zoom gesture support for smoother touch interaction.

You can download the source code for this application from the Hilo Code Gallery Page. The article introducing the above updates can be found here.

As usual, you can also follow Hilo updates on Twitter @projecthilo. Keep coding.

  • Neat sample. Gotta say, though, that I'm growing weary of the toys and tutorials that have comprised the content of this blog for the last quarter... hungry for some substantive news. Where are you taking things, what should I be planning for? Will you ever again support Intellisense for C++/CLI, or is it going to become the next ATL? Development plans live and die by your decisions, so inquiring minds want to know!
