Scorched Earth under Virtual PC

Scorched Earth under Virtual PC

Scorched Earth is one of the all time classic DOS games.  It is a superb implementation of an artillery game where you get to control a tank and try to blow up everyone else.  It is a very simple - but quite addictive game.  As you progress through the game you can purchase new and interest weapons and defenses to use in your quest to blow everyone else up.

You can find out more about Scorched Earth at it's official website: http://www.classicgaming.com/scorch/

And it runs perfectly under Virtual PC:

  • Most excellent game!
Here's a recent interview with the author: http://arstechnica.com/articles/culture/scorched.ars
I see you only got it working in 320*200 mode. U suppose VirtualPC doesn't emulate the funky 360X480 modes that this game usually ran at. Not surprising - those were an enormous hack!
  • And there are various remakes/updates available to this, I personally play Scorched3d http://www.scorched3d.co.uk
  • Hi Jonathan,

Actually - 360x480 does work - I just don't like the look of the game at that resolution :-)
