ZZT under Virtual PC

ZZT under Virtual PC

ZZT is one of the first games to be released by Epic MegaGames (back in 1991) and while it is only text based it is darned addictive.  ZZT places you in a very large world - with the requirement that you locate a number of special keys to allow you to get into the ZZT palace.  The really interesting thing about ZZT (apart from the fact that it has a large complex world full of puzzles) is that it is actually built off of an object oriented concept - where each object (centipede, lion, etc...) has its own basic behavior defined - and acts independently of its environments.  In fact - when you purchased the full version of ZZT you were given the tools to be able to build your own worlds out of these basic objects.

ZZT runs really well under Virtual PC.  You can find out more about ZZT here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZZT

  • Does VPC grab the USB ports from the host and allow them to be used from the guest OS like VMWare?

This way I wont contaminate my Host OS with USB drivers I Dont want.  VMWare protects me this way, does VPC?

  • Why should I buy VPC when I have VMWare server and VMWare Player for free?
  • Wow, ZZT! A classic, truly! :)

I spent months of my teenage life building a world in that game, that nobody ever saw. Lots of fun. :) Too bad I don't still have it.
  • MEH -

Unfortunately VPC does not support USB today - so this is not even an issue.

    Blah -

Virtual PC is a solution that is officially supported by Microsoft for all Microsoft operating systems.  It offers a range of integration features not available in VMware Server - and has the capbility to create and manage virtual machines (which VMware player does not)

    Ben
  • Also VMWare server is still well in beta.
